Thomas Nauwelaerts is the Product Development Manager at NiniX Technologies. He is dedicated to innovation and the development of advanced electronics. With a passion for technology and a broad expertise in embedded software and electronics, he plays a key role in realizing reliable solutions.

Can you tell us about your career at NiniX Technologies?

Thomas: My career at NiniX began in 2013 as an intern. During my internship, I worked on the development of an isokinetic motion simulator, which combined both mechanical and software aspects. That experience gave me the opportunity to deeply engage with the technical side of product development and the NiniX team. After my internship, I was given the chance to start working here full-time, and my professional journey officially began in 2014.

What particularly attracted me to NiniX was the open work culture and the opportunity to contribute to real projects. It gave me a sense of responsibility and involvement from the start. Over the years, I’ve specialized more and more in embedded software and electronics, and today I am responsible for product development at NiniX.

What inspires you the most in your work?

Thomas: The most inspiring part of my work is the wide range of disciplines that come together in product development. From mechanics and electronics to software and chemistry; each project brings new challenges and opportunities to learn. What really energizes me is transforming an abstract idea into a tangible product that actually makes a difference.

A good example of this is the Resus project, which focuses on corrosion detection in central heating systems. This project started as a rough concept phase and has been developed into a fully-fledged product that is now on the market. That process, from an idea in someone’s head to a solution being implemented, is extremely motivating.

Which projects are most memorable to you?

Thomas: Besides Resus, there are several projects I look back on with pride. Another highlight was the development of an embedded software solution for industrial automation. This project combined advanced microcontroller technology with real-time control software and required close collaboration between different areas of expertise within NiniX.

What makes NiniX special is the way we tackle technological challenges. We don’t just work with state-of-the-art technology, but we also encourage a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration. This allows us to continuously innovate and improve our products.

How do you see your future at NiniX?

Thomas: I see myself continuing to grow in my role and want to position NiniX as a knowledge center within the larger group of companies to which we belong. My goal is to further develop and share our expertise in product development and electronics within the broader organization. I’m deeply interested in emerging technologies such as AI and new sensor technologies and see great potential in integrating them into our products. The future looks bright for innovation, making it both exciting and very engaging.

Additionally, I want to contribute to the further professionalization of our production processes. A dream project for me would be a complete product development from A to Z, where we not only handle the design and engineering but also the production and implementation. The synergy between design, technology, and production at NiniX offers huge opportunities for innovation.
