Multi-sensor for intake air

NiniX Technologies developed and produces a multi-sensor that measures the temperature, pressure and humidity of intake air in one module. With these real-time measurements, the control system calculates the volume flow accurately and optimises efficiency. The sensor components are hermetically sealed against the dust, vapours and vibration in the air intake.

Measuring in the air intake

To calculate the volume flow, the control system needs reliable values for temperature, pressure and humidity at the same time. The sensor sits directly in the intake air, where it is exposed to a constant flow of microscopic fine dust, oil and fuel vapours, heavy vibration and changing atmospheric humidity. Under these conditions, unprotected sensor components drift or fail.

Three measurements in one sealed module

NiniX developed a single sensor module that combines three measurements.

Temperature

The temperature of the intake air, measured in real time.

Pressure

The intake pressure, as input for the volume flow calculation.

Humidity

The air humidity, which changes with weather and operating conditions.

The electronics protection hermetically seals the sensor components from the intake air, so dust, vapours and moisture cannot reach them. NiniX handles both the development and the series production of the sensor.

Accurate volume flow, optimised efficiency

The control system receives reliable temperature, pressure and humidity data at the same time and uses it to calculate the volume flow accurately. This allows the process to be optimised for efficiency, with measurements that remain reliable in a dusty, vapour-laden environment.
