Custom machine vision systems for inspection and measurement

Machine vision is increasingly applied in automation, driven by lower hardware costs and more user-friendly systems. Visual inspection is contactless, reliable and very fast, which makes it suitable for a wide range of applications in production.

NiniX Technologies has many years of experience with visual inspection systems. We develop custom solutions for stand-alone vision systems and for integration in production lines.

Hardware and software as one system

A reliable vision system depends on the right combination of hardware and software. We select and integrate the camera, optics and lighting, and develop the image processing software for the specific inspection task.

The result is a system that delivers consistent inspection results under real production conditions, either as a stand-alone station or integrated in an assembly or production line.

Applications

Machine vision can be used for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Localisation of mechanical parts
  • Golden template comparisons
  • Accurate measurement of geometry and dimensions
  • Colour and light output measurement

Specialised expertise

Our experience covers demanding vision applications, such as:

  • High-speed in-motion measurements
  • 3D inspection
  • Wireless image transfer
  • Measurements with µm accuracy
  • Stand-alone smart cameras

AI vision for complex inspections

For some applications, classic vision tools cannot reliably distinguish between good and rejected products. In these cases, we apply AI vision tools: an AI model is trained on images of approved and rejected situations and then performs the visual inspection.

Camera platforms and integrated applications

We have experience with various types and brands of camera systems, including Keyence, NI IMAQ and Cognex, and select the platform that best fits each application.

As with our test and measurement systems, we can use LabVIEW to build one integrated application covering image acquisition, processing, visualisation, communication and reporting.

Frequently asked questions

What can machine vision be used for?

Machine vision is used for the localisation of mechanical parts, golden template comparisons and accurate measurement of geometry, dimensions, colour and light output.

Does NiniX develop complete vision systems?

Yes. NiniX develops custom vision systems including hardware (camera, optics and lighting) and software (image processing), for stand-alone use or integration in a production line.

When is AI vision used instead of classic machine vision?

AI vision is used when classic vision tools cannot reliably distinguish between good and rejected products. An AI model is trained on images of approved and rejected situations and then performs the inspection.

Which camera systems does NiniX work with?

NiniX has experience with various types and brands of camera systems, including Keyence, NI IMAQ and Cognex.

Why choose NiniX for machine vision?

NiniX combines vision expertise with machine building, test and measurement, and PLC programming within one organisation. This allows us to integrate visual inspection seamlessly into your machine or production line.
