Automation of joining, dispensing and surface treatment processes
NiniX Technologies develops and builds automated machines for joining, dispensing and surface treatment processes, including gluing, potting, ultrasonic welding, laser welding, soldering, greasing and plasma treatment. Because we combine expertise in product development and machine building, each process is selected and automated based on the requirements of both the product and the production environment.
Our scope covers the full trajectory: from process selection during the product development phase to the automation and integration of the process in a stand-alone machine or a complete assembly line.

Process selection during product development
The choice of joining or processing technique is typically made early in product development. That choice largely determines the assemblability, quality and cost of the final product. Taking process requirements into account at this stage prevents design iterations and production issues later on.
Based on a design-for-assembly approach, our engineers evaluate your product design, materials and functional requirements, and recommend the most suitable process technology. The selected process is then automated and integrated in the production equipment.
Joining technologies
NiniX has experience in automating the following joining techniques:
- Gluing
- Ultrasonic welding
- Laser welding
- Soldering
Technology selection is based on criteria such as material combination, required joint strength, sealing requirements, thermal sensitivity of components and target cycle time.
Dispensing and surface treatment
In addition to joining, many products require process steps that demand high accuracy and repeatability, such as:
- Potting and epoxy dispensing
- Greasing and lubrication
- Surface treatment, such as plasma activation prior to gluing
Each process is integrated with the appropriate dosing technology, product handling and process control, ensuring consistent results for every product.
Robot-based process automation
For complex product geometries, the process tool is mounted on a robot. The robot guides the dispensing needle, plasma nozzle or other process head along the product contour. This provides the flexibility required for multiple product variants.
Pre-treatment and joining can be combined in a single tool head, for example plasma activation directly followed by glue application. More information on robot integration is available on our Robot cells page.
From process selection to automated production
- Process selectionTechnology advice during product development
- Process integrationAutomation of the selected technique in the assembly machine
- Quality controlInline verification of the process result
This approach ensures that each process is defined, automated and verified as one coherent whole.
Process reliability and traceability
A reliable production process requires more than the right technology. Where required, process steps are combined with inline inspection and measurement to verify the result of each operation, using machine vision or dedicated test systems.
Products can be marked with a unique serial number. This links process and measurement data to each individual unit for full traceability.
Frequently asked questions
Which process technologies does NiniX automate?
NiniX automates gluing, potting, epoxy dispensing, ultrasonic welding, laser welding, soldering, greasing and lubrication, as well as surface treatments such as plasma activation.
Does NiniX advise on the selection of joining technology?
Yes. During the product development phase, NiniX advises on the most suitable joining technology based on product design, materials and production requirements, following a design-for-assembly approach.
Can a single production step be automated?
Yes. Processes can be integrated in a complete assembly line, or automated in a stand-alone machine for a specific production step.
How is process quality verified?
Process steps can be combined with inline machine vision or dedicated test and measurement systems. Serial number marking links process data to each individual product.
Why choose NiniX for process technology?
NiniX combines product development and machine building within one organisation. This allows us to assess the product and its production process as a whole. The result is a process that is technically robust, suitable for automation and aligned with your production volumes.
